Download La Sierra’s Longhorn Bumper Sticker

Attached to the link below is a 1600 wide x 897 hight pixel bumper sticker in the “gif” format. It is derived from a high res scan of my last bumper sticker which is now nowhere to be found. The file is about 180mb hence the “gif” format. It is large enough for all but high-res applications.
This is a lower res PNG 600 x 336 of the La Sierra High School Longhorn Bumper sticker. If that is all you need, you can click to save this directly from this page. If your computer is fussy, this image is linked to a separate page to allow for cleaner, but far less desirable screen shots to be taken of the bumper sticker.

A Bike Ride Around Lake Natomas & After Party

20 Years Of Longhorns Represent On Bikes Around Lake Natoma

…and a few more show up at the Hacienda Del Rio “Cool Down”
When: October, 13, 2012
La Sierra Longhorns Carmichael CA out for a loop ride around Lake Natoma in Folsom, CA

Thanks to Jeff Green and John Torres for running point on the mini reunion bike ride around Lake Natoma and after party at the Hacienda Del Rio in old town Folsom. Everyone survived the ride and after-ride mixer on the patio of the Hacienda on Sutter Street. Thirteen Longhorns representing from 1963 to 1983 traveling from as far as St. Louis to the east, Modesto to the south and the Bay Area to the west showed up at the Folsom Light Rail station at 10AM for the easy 12 mile loop around Lake Natoma. Despite the range of equipment and experience all finished the ride within a few minutes with no serious injuries.

When the bike riders arrived at the Hacienda Del Rio, another 15 or so alumni joined the party at one time or another. Later that evening, a few that still had some game in them returned to Folsom to party with Tom Vinci’s “Superlicious” at the Powerhouse Pub. Rocktoberfest was the theme and the evening was straight out of one of those house parties from the seventies.

Planning is on for the next bike ride which will probably be held about the same time in 2013. For more information, be sure to check here or at the Facebook page for La Sierra!

A Casual La Sierra Roundup Reunion Lake Natomas Loop

This is going to be a casual, three or so hour tour around Lake Natomas, not a race. We will ride the Lake Natoma loop in a counter-clockwise direction so if you come late, you know what direction to ride fast in! After the ride we will gather at The Hacienda for a no-host lunch and/or drinks. Spread the word to any former La Sierra classmates and staff!

Class of 1966 Planning Request: Yearbook Needed

A request for access to a 1966 La Sierra High School Yearbook has been made through the site by Jerry Ray ’66. I would suggest that since any 46 year old book would be potentially fragile and a highly valued memento, that the best way would be to contact Jerry and then arrange to have the appropriate class pages scanned or photographed.

Powerhouse Pub Party 2012 #2

As posted on Classmates by Becky Cosans (North)
“We are planning a get-together on May 18, 2012 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Powerhouse Pub in Old Town Folsom. We will have the place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. then open to the public but we will continue the party. (Note beware of loud country music if you go to the link above.

Pass the word around to as many people you know. Tom Vinci’s (1977) band will be playing that nite. Hope to see you there! RSVP Michelle (Clarke) Hartman at (916) 308-6054 or if you have any questions. Please let her know whom you may have contacted to we can keep an upated list.”

Superlicious is the band and Tommy Vinci might even have his hair a bit longer than at the January “mini” class party at the Powerhouse Pub. That particular even was fun, but with a band friendly to the cause of “Longhorn-ism”, I am sure it will be even more fun. Get there early so the main floor is awash in Longhorn and let the bull fly! Even I will try to get back for this party.

The Powerhouse Pub is located at 614 Sutter St. #D Folsom, CA 95630-2573 (916) 355-8586

La Sierra Online is Response Enabled

I figured that this site would be a good place to test new WordPress mobile technology given that people who visit here routinely ate things that looked like big flour wrapped bean and meat turds with more beans on the side. Yes, I am calling the cafeteria burritos as I remember. In any case, getting all sites mobile is important and this one is not “Response” enabled. If you don’t have an IPad or some other mobile browser, just resize your screen to about the size of an Ipad and then cell phone and watch it magically adjust the content. Cool beans I tell ya, real meat here!

7/27/2012 – Friday Night Event Details

ICE BREAKER AND MIXER NIGHT
Come get reacquainted with your Longhorn pals.
The Clubhouse (on Fair Oaks Blvd near Arden Way, in Carmichael, CA) is the place for a casual, open, no-host bar mixer. People will begin congregating around 7 and stay as long or leave as soon as desired.

This evening is open to any and all Longhorns, so feel free to spread the word.

This event will be completely casual, no RSVP necessary, but, if you plan on attending, please contact Denise Froloff-Davis, at lshclassof82@gmail.com, so she can plan accordingly.

7/28/2012 – Saturday Night Event Details, 28 July 2012

The Crowne Plaza Hotel (formerly known as the Holiday Inn on Date Ave) is the place. The DJ will rock the house with music from the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s, donations accepted. The evening will run until midnight, so consider renting a room for the night.

Members of other LSH classes are welcome to join us after 8:30pm. They need to register though (free of charge) so we can arrange for name tags and stay within occupancy limits. Since they aren’t in our class, we have no way to contact them. If you know of non-82 LSH grads who wish to attend, give them our email address (lshclassof82@gmail.com) and tell them to include “Non Class of 82 alum here” in the subject line.
